New Bridge Installed in Less Than One Hour

It took less than an hour to install a Compact 200, one of Mabey Bridge’s most popular modular bridging systems. The new bridge, which provides a roadway and separate pedestrian footwalk was supplied to the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) in Concepción, Chile. It forms part of a new road system that is being built by the MOP to reduce traffic congestion in the City Centre.

This installation proves why the C200 is one of the popular modular bridges in the world. The bridge’s durability is another important factor. Installed in an urban area with lots of traffic, the bridge has been designed as a permanent structure that will undergo an estimated 2 million operation load cycles during its lifetime.

Commenting on the installation, Neil Boyle, Sales Director at Mabey Bridge said:

We are well versed in installing bridges in demanding conditions and this one proved no exception. Due to the volume of traffic that uses the road, we had to manoeuvre the bridge into position without closing the road. We did this in one movement using a 100 ton crane and got it onto the abutments in less than one hour.
